Five anime schools I would love to teach at

First apologies for such a long hiatus, the real world has been kicking my but as of late.  Now I usually do not stray off my Anime science shtick, but in this case I was inspired by Irina over at Drunken Anime Blog and her post on her post about anime schools she would never want to attend.  Now it’s been a long time since I’ve been a high school student, but I am a high school teacher.  Thus, I was struck by the thought, what anime schools would I want to teach at, which snowballed into this post.  So, without further ado here are the 5 anime schools I would love to teach at.

Number 5- Great Teacher Onizuka- Holy Forest Academy

Great Teacher Onizuka or GTO, is an older series from the late 1990’s and early 2000’s that some of you might not have seen or heard of.  The quickest and best way to sum up GTO is Dr. House, but for teachers.  Onizuka does or says some of the thing’s teachers have at some point thought about doing or saying to their students over the years.  So, I think he would make a great coworker and or co-teacher for my science classes.  However, my thoughts go beyond that, because the principal consistently backs Onizuka up, placing a great deal of trust in him.  I would have to believe that this trust/freedom extends to the other teachers as well and working for a principal that has that level of confidence in their teachers is a wonderful thing.  Now I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Onizuka has a cute single coworker.

Azusa Fuyutsuki

Number 4- Negima- Mahora Academy

Negima or Negima! Magister Negi Magi is a harem action comedy written by Ken Akamatsu that sadly never had a faithful or even good anime adaptation.  The basic premise is Harry Potter teaches middle school girls and what can I say teaching at Mahora Academy would never be boring, with all of the shenanigans that seem to be constantly happening?  I mean come on teaching at a magic school would be really cool, and in the sequel UQholder magic is a cellphone app, take my money.  Sure, there would be some risks but I never said I wanted to teach Negi’s class 2-A.  You couldn’t pay me enough to teach that one, but one of the other classes would be ok.  However, Negi might be able to convince me to help him if he sets me up with his cousin or school nurse.

Shizuna Minamoto

Number 3- Azumanga Diaoh

Given my previous picks you might be wondering, wait there is nothing special to see here?  Of course, that is the point.  The school in Azumanga Diaoh is a bog standard Japanese high school, where everyone goes about doing normal everyday things, (excluding Kimura of course, how that man isn’t fired I will never know).  A classic slice of life comedy about the everyday lives of a group of school girls.  So why would I want to teach here.  Two names, Yukari Tanizaki, and Minamo Kurosawa, are you sensing a pattern here.

Azumanga Daioh

Number 2- A certain Series- A certain high school or Tokiwadai

A Certain Magical Index, and A Certain Scientific Railgun, are parallel action adventure series that take place in the same universe, but they focus on different characters.  Both series take place in Academy City, which is an independent enclave within Tokyo Japan.  You would not be wrong to think, what are you crazy, A Certain series is just a few steps away from a crapsack world, with everything that happens, doubly so on the Magical side of things.  What would make me want to risk my neck in a world like that, Anti-skill, Gym teachers, and dorm managers.

Number 1- Interviews with Monster Girls

If you haven’t seen this one, what have you been doing living under a rock.  And if you haven’t figured this one out already, then let me make it simple, Sackie is best girl.  I should also mention that she is a math teacher and science teachers like me will sometimes do crossover activities with math teachers.

Yes, I do realize that my list started with schools with good working conditions and ended with schools where I would have attractive single coworkers.  Either way I hoped you like my little foray into nonscience topics here at Animescience101.  Next up will be something from Komi-san can’t communicate.

Bonus- 5 schools I would not want to work at

Number 5- Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha- Saint Hilde- The men in this universe seem to have zero luck with the ladies so, it’s a big pass for me.

Number 4- Kill La Kill- I don’t want to be turned into clothing

Number 3- Fate series– Yes Taiga is attractive but I don’t want to die

Number 2- High school of the dead- I don’t want to be turned into a zombie

Number 1- Neogenesis Evangelion– I’d rather not get tanged, although Shinji, Rei, and Asuka would benefit from a proper teacher trying to get them the help they need.
